Ja'Wann Gordon

Ja’Wann Gordon, a junior at Waukegan PLUS, was recently named a winner in the Waukegan Public Library‘s 28th Annual Ray Bradbury Creative Contest.

The contest centered on a short story written by Ray Bradbury, a native of Waukegan. The task was to write an essay about a risk taken and lessons learned from the situation.

Ja’Wann produced a spectacular essay that was an inspiration to everyone who read it. This is a huge accomplishment for a student who has grown and achieved much throughout his years at Waukegan Plus.

Words cannot express how proud we are of Ja’Wann; congratulations to him on his success!

You can read Ja’Wann’s winning essay, “The Risk I Took,” on the Waukegan Public Library website here.

Congratulations, Ja’Wann!

Recently, I had the privilege of visiting the Wakegan Plus location with some colleagues from St. Louis. We found the center culture to be remarkably effective, and I am pleased that students like Ja’Wann are thriving in this environment. Job well done!
