Post image for Douglas Central Student Receives Special Congressional Recognition (Douglasville, Ga.)

Douglas Central senior Antoine Harraway was recently presented with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by U.S. Representative David Scott.

Antoine was nominated by Congressman Scott to the U.S. Naval Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Class of 2016.

After attending the U.S. Naval Academy Summer Seminar Program last June, Antoine earned his private pilot’s license in July and has logged more than 46 hours of flight time.

These are major steps toward Antoine achieving his dream of becoming a commissioned officer and a pilot in the U.S. Armed Forces, and we can’t wait to see where his aspirations will take him!

Antoine is on track to graduate from Chapel Hill High School in Douglasville on May 25, and he is awaiting news of his military academy status. Meanwhile, Antoine has been accepted to Savannah State University in Savannah, Ga.
